A celebration of making

The past weekend saw a first of its kind collaboration between noted.man, Bisquit Cognac, The Perfect Hair Company and MØDERNIST at the Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair at Hyde Park Corner, Johannesburg.

Housed inside Maison Bisquit Cocktail Bar, we set up a lounge section courtesy of MØDERNIST, with an adjacent grooming station operated by The Perfect Hair Company. Providing complimentary haircuts, shaves and beard trims, they also used the event to launch their excellent new men’s beard and shaving oils. We had scores of visitors over the weekend – who came for a drink, chat and grooming touch up – who were undeterred by the intermittent gloomy weather.

On the eve of its public opening, the fair played host to its VIPs and we used the occasion to host a special panel discussion about ‘The meaning of making’. Together with Mr Anikesh Ramani of MØDERNIST, Ms Taryn Gill of The Perfect Hair and Mr Menzi Mcunu of The Afrocentric Gentlemvn; we explored the menaing of making, beyond its buzzwordiness, going into the three panelists’ process and unearthing what fuels their passion for well made things. We will be sharing more content from this collaboration, for now, some images from opening night.
