HAUNT (N): A PLACE FREQUENTED BY A PARTICULAR PERSON. A HANG-OUT, STOMPING GROUND, A FAVOURED MEETING PLACE.
In our new series going by that name, we look at interesting places frequented – and wherever possible – owned by people like us. We pay our first visit to Le Trésor, a lifestyle men’s store in Melville, Johannesburg.
Le Trésor is a masculine mix of casual and smart clothing, footwear, accessories and fragrances imported from around the world. The shopping experience is an unhurried one, where visitors can enjoy a walk-in (or by appointment) haircut in the corner grooming area, after which they can grab a coffee made by the in-house Barista, making robust Amerinanos and soothing Cappuccinos using their own Bantu Coffee beans.
The proprietor, Mr Junior Trésor Kankonda has been in the space for less than a year and already the move from Braamfontein’s hip but perennially ill-fated 70 Juta Street retail strip has proved fruitful, with closer proximity to some loyal clients and more incidental foot traffic. First Thursdays have also become ‘Toast it Thursdays”, where Mr Kankonda hosts friends and clients for a spot of bubbly, smart threads and conversation.
