Imbawula: The Money Series comes to Sandton

The next show in Imbawula’s The Money Series has been announced and sees a new lineup and the entry of a new venue into the narrative of the storytelling platform.

Imbawula is the storytelling movement founded in 2014 at the old Bean Republic in Illovo, Johannebsurg. The shows were founded on the premise that our stories connect us on a human level, providing us with community, comfort, belonging and catharsis. Since then, we have had the privilege of hearing a diverse array of people sharing their deepest, saddest, joyous and complex experiences in 10 to 15 minutes on stages ranging from the Bassline in Newtown, Neh! in Alexandra, to Untitled Basement in Braamfontein and next, The Hard Rock Cafe at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg.

The Money Series, in association with Nedbank, and Hard Rock Cafe, explores our collective relationship with money, the good, the bad and the excessive. In the first two shows, we saw an economist Mr Xhanti Payi, newly sworn in Member of Parliament Ms. Naledi Chirwa, Comedian Mr Jason Goliath and former Springbok Mr Gcobani Bobo, among the people sharing their varied experiences with money.

The line up on June 25 sees a senior advertising man, a hair entrepreneur and soul singer take to the stage: Magazine Publisher turned Beauty Entrepreneur – and founder of The Perfect Hair range of products – Ms. Taryn Gill will join Mr Xolisa Dyeshana – Chief Creative Officer at Joe Public United – and MXO, the prolific singer songwriter, who will combine his money story with a musical set. We’ll be there, we hope to see you on June 25 at 18:00 (show starts at 19:30).
